Selling an Alfa Romeo 2600

Alfa Romeo 2600

First launched in March 1962 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo 2600 range would replace the Alfa Romeo 2000 range. While essentially the same chassis, modifications were made such as the adoption of disc brakes at the front, as well as some minor trim changes. The factory-built Berlina sedan, the Bertone-designed Sprint coupe and the Touring-designed Spider would be the first official offerings of the 2600 range and would later be joined by a striking Zagato coupe with a jutting, rounded nose. With a new engine and an excellent power-to-weight ratio, the Alfa Romeo 2600 series was often viewed as more entertaining than the previous 2000 series, and was commercially more successful. Running alongside the Giulietta, however, proved to be difficult for the 2600, as the Giulietta was half the price and more fun to drive. Still, the Alfa Romeo 2600 was known for being an excelling touring car: quiet, comfortable, roomy, and with traditional Alfa Romeo handling that makes the driver feel secure on nearly any road.pider built by Touring was released using the same floorpan of the 1900 Super Sprint and a more powerful 115hp version of the 1,975cc engine. This two-seat open-top car would use a floor-mounted shifter, yet in 1961 a 2+2 model would become available. At the end of 1960, the third variant would be introduced – the 2000 Sprint coupe. Using what was essentially a Spider chassis, the Sprint was designed by Bertone and was known for its styling and performance.
