Selling A 1987 Aston Martin V8
The Aston Martin V8 evolved a lot between its launch in 1969 and the end of its production in 1989. A new “580 series” engine was introduced in 1980 with notable engine modifications. More updates were made in 1983, when BBS wheels replaced the GKN alloys, and then in late 1985 when the carburetors were abandoned in favor of a new Weber Marelli fuel injection system. The design, engineering and mechanics of the latest models were very well developed and technologically advanced. The 1987 Aston Martin V8 was made in both Coupe and Convertible, and the Volante had a power operated fully lined hood. In 1979, a four-door version of the V8 was released, called the Aston Martin V8 Lagonda. A Long Wheelbase Tickford Limousine was also offered from 1984. As all Astons, the AM V8 offered a Vantage engine from 1977, boasting revised camshafts, air-box, larger inlet valves and carburetors. The Vantage engine specifications increased the power by 40% and the torque by 10%, propelling the car to a top speed of 170 mph. With its 0 to 60 acceleration in 5.2 seconds, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage was the fastest 4-seater grand touring car at the time and also the UK’s first supercar. 1987 Aston Martin V8 Seller’s Guide
In 1985, Aston Martin announced a limited edition of the Vantage in partnership with the Italian coachbuilder Zagato and the car was launched in 1986. Only 50 Saloons and 37 Convertibles were built, featuring the 585 series engine with the fuel injection system. The Aston Martin V8 Zagato had an aggressive and very recognizable style, and is highly praised by collectors. This is one of the most loved versions of the V8.
