Selling Your Austin-Healey BJ7
The Austin-Healey BJ7 is part of the “Big Healey” range of sports cars that would run from 1959 to 1967. Known as the Austin-Healey 3000, the range would see several variations throughout production, including the Mark I, Mark II and Mark III. The BJ7 is part of the Mark II variation, which was released in March 1961 and would run until the Mark III was introduced in October 1963. The term “BJ7” refers to the 2+2 body style that was originally displayed in January 1962. The release of the Austin-Healey BJ7 also marked a return to two carburetors for the lineup, as the company had problems balancing the three carburetors that the previous models had. As such, the BN7 Mark II was discontinued in March 1962 and the BT7 in June 1962. Externally, the BJ7 offered a vertical barred front grille, wind-up windows in place of side curtains, an improved hood and a wrap around windscreen. If you’re thinking about selling an Austin-Healey BJ7, models that offer additional options such as the brake servo offered from 1961 often command higher values. The BJ7 would be discontinued in October 1963 when the 3000 Mark III would be introduced. In total, approximately 11,564 Mark II models were produced; approximately 6,113 of these were BJ7 models.
