About Facel-Metallon

 

Founded in 1939, just after the start of the war, Facel was a subsidiary of Bronzavia, which operated in military aeronautics. In 1941, the technical director of Bronzavia Jean Daninos left for the U.S. to help the ally during the war. His position was in the General Aircraft Equipment that used the patents of the French company. Jean Daninos took the direction of Facel upon he’s return in 1945 and merged the company with Metallon. Facel-Metallon became specialized in coach building, working with companies such as Simca, Ford SAF, Panhard and Delahaye. The new company partnered with Chrysler in 1952 to get a V8 engine for a luxurious coupe 2+2 prototype. In 1953, Facel-Metallon was divided in two entities. Facel made the prototype named the Vega, symbol of power and prestige.
