About James Young
With an original business model that included the manufacture of horse drawn carriages, James Young eventually made the expansion to automobiles near the turn of the first decade of the 20th century in 1908. This introductory car body was manufactured for a local member of the British parliament, and from there forth, James Young became a regular designer of cars for Bentley, Alfa Romeo, Sunbeam, and Rolls-Royce customers. Eventually acquired by Rolls-Royce in 1937, James Young was at the time making airplane parts to help in the Second World War. Although the entire factory was destroyed during World War II, business resumed following the conclusion in 1945 and designs were then presented three years later at the Motor Show. Production continued for nearly two decades until 1967 when the last bodies were finished.
