About Saoutchik

 

Jacques Saoutchik was a Russian-born cabinetry maker who had created and established a reputable business before moving to coach building during the late 20th century. Perhaps it was a prior career in wood building that led the Russian to create some of the most dynamic and avant-garde styles of the era, earning him a reputation on the edge of the profession. Many of his truly fabulous designs were for high-end manufacturers, and they took the spotlight during the 1930s for his wonderful ability to marry high-quality and extravagance into a single designs. His work can be found all over manufacturers of the time, including Bugatti, Delahaye, Pegaso, and Cadillac, among others. Nearly a decade and a half following this decade of success, the founder Jacques passed away and the business transitioned into the hands of his son, Pierre. In a poor stroke of luck for the son, the demise of the luxury auto manufacturers happened right around the same period and sends the famed coachbuilder into collapse.
