An English coachbuilder that was based in West London, Thrupp & Maberly was a wildly successful coachbuilder that existed for nearly two centuries. Famous for providing coachwork for Queen Victoria, they also were known for their elegant and high-end for car manufacturers around Western Europe. Thrupp & Maberly constructed bespoke bodies for these high-end manufacturers, and in between the first and second world wars, manufacturing facilities were moved to Cricklewood and the Roots brothers purchased the business. Their brand remained, and the prestigious coachwork that they were known for continued and bodies were built for Rolls-Royce, Daimler and Bentley models. Following the Second World War, the Roots Group operated vehicles such as the open-top Humbers while the market for the coach-built automobile started the beginning of its long descent.
