The convertible version was the first German car to feature an electrically-operated top, and both the coupe and the convertible featured a massive all-alloy 3.2 liter V8, which put out 140 horsepower and was capable of propelling these hand-crafted comfort machines to a top speed of 118 miles an hour, with a zero-to-sixty time of 12.8 seconds. The engine, during those nearly thirteen seconds, is unexpectedly quiet, and the ride was regarded to be as smooth as silk. Rare as it is, the amazing quality of the 503 leaves it very highly sought-after today!
