The Jaguar Mark IV was the designation used for models that were launched by SS Cars in 1935 and produced from 1945 to 1949 under the name Jaguar—after the company was renamed. From 1945 to 1949, three versions were available: the Jaguar Mark IV 1.5 liter, the 2.5-liter and the 3.5-liter. Originally powered by a 1.6-liter engine, the engine of the smaller model was then replaced by a 1.7-liter, overhead-valve unit supplied by Standard, who was also making the four-speed transmission of the model. Only the saloon body was made available for the Jaguar Mark IV 1.5 liter, while the other models also offered a drop head coupe. The cars featured elliptic-spring suspension on rigid axles all around and used a steel fabrication with a separate chassis frame. The model gave 105 hp for the 2.5-liter, and power went up to 125 with the last 3.5-liter iteration.
