1971 Jaguar E Type

Officially launching the Series 3 models of the Jaguar E Type, the 1971 model-year was widely anticipated and brought about many changes to this iconic sports car. The 1971 Jaguar E Type featured a new 5.3L, twelve-cylinder engine, which was matched with upgraded brakes to accommodate for new power behind the wheel. Power steering, which was previously just a factory option, also became standard during 1971. Much to the surprise of consumers, the Jaguar brand also ended the short-wheelbase Fixed Head Coupe. Instead, they would focus their efforts on the Roadster convertible and the 2+2 Coupe. Both of these models used the longer wheelbase and would save greatly on production costs. The outward appearance of the 1971 E Type also changed slightly, with the addition of a larger cross-slatted front grille, larger flares in the wheel arches, and – as was expected – a badge on the rear signifying the new V12 engine. If that was not enough, inside the car a newly revised steering wheel, reclining seats, door panels and center console made the cabin more luxurious.
