First introduced in 1960, the Porsche 356B was the third generation release of the widely popular Porsche 356 series. A number of appearance changes were made during this time. Bumpers were raised nearly four inches in the front and rear, and larger, vertical bumper guards were added. The headlights were also raised so that the fender line was now almost horizontal from the headlight rim to the cowl. Two grille additions were also made, one above the bumper and a brake-cooling grille below. These are just a few of the characteristics that will distinguish your 1961 Porsche 356B from previous Pre-A and 356A generations. During the 1961 production year, approximately 8,245 Porsche 356B models were produced. This number included more than 5,800 Coupe models and 1,600 Cabriolets. A Roadster body style was also available during this time and accounted for approximately 900 of the models manufactured in 1961. While the Cabriolet and Roadster models are the most sought-after, the Coupe has a strong following thanks to its clean and iconic styling.
