The 1973 Porsche 911T Coupe and Targa models would be part of the F-Series of Porsche 911 production. By the time this series came along in 1973, the Porsche 911T was becoming more and more like the 911S and 911E models it ran alongside. The main difference during this particular model-year is that the 911T would gain the front spoiler that had become standard fitment across the range. The 1973 Porsche 911T Coupe does hold a unique spot in Porsche 911 history, however. Models headed to the United States were the first 911 models to be fitted with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Also known as CIS injection, this new system was primarily mechanical but used some electronic sensors and overrides. The system would give precise injections of fuel, which kept emissions down and improved economy. For other markets, the 911T continued to use Zenith carburetors. In 1974, the CIS system would become standard. For this reason, purchasing a late 911T is an attractive purchase today.

1973 Porsche 911T Coupe Seller’s Guide

Help potential buyers authenticate your particular classic 911 as a 1973 Porsche 911T Coupe by pointing out the black trim around the front and rear lights, the black front quarter grilles, the front lip spoiler, and the 911T Badge on the engine compartment. You can also help them verify authenticity by providing the engine and chassis numbers and showing how they compare to Porsche records. As with all classic cars, serious buyers will likely want to have a third part inspection, which you should allow. For those models where a mechanical inspection may not be necessary, always allow buyers to fully inspect the body, chassis and overall condition of your car. It is estimated that approximately 16,933 models of the 911T were manufactured during the F-Series. While your particular 911T is not overwhelming rare, there is certainly a wide pool of buyers looking to enter into 911 ownership that believe the late model 911T examples are a great option.
