1969 De Tomaso Mangusta

Introduced in 1966, the De Tomaso Mangusta was produced from 1967 to 1971 until the popular Pantera model took over. The Mangusta was the second road going vehicle made by the Italian manufacturer and it replaced the Vallelunga model on which it based its chassis. A mid-mounted 306-hp Ford 289 V8 engine powered the Euro version of the De Tomaso Mangusta, while the US model featured a Ford HiPo 289 engine for the first units and a Ford 302 V8 engine with an output of 221 hp for the later units. Driving through a 5-speed ZF transaxle, the top speed of the De Tomaso Mangusta was recorded at 155 mph. The 1969 De Tomaso Mangusta was ahead of the competition with rack and pinion steering, all-around disk brakes, four wheel independent suspension, air conditioning, and power windows.
