Buying or Selling a 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB?
The Ferrari 308 GTB was introduced at the London and Paris shows in 1975 and was highly praised for its beautiful design. The 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB was the work of the famous Pininfarina coachbuilder. The mid-mounted V8 engine was linked to a synchromesh five-speed transmission. 240 hp were available for the US market models and a stronger 255 hp engine was available for the European market models. Among the 2,897 Ferrari 308 GTB made, only the first 808 –until 1977- were made with a light fiberglass body, the rest used a more simple steel fabrication. Disc brakes with independent wishbones and hydraulic shock absorbers were mounted all around with anti roll bars. As an option for the 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB, a deep front spoiler could be ordered, which – like the standard shallow spoiler – was made of fiberglass molding.
1977 Ferrari 308 GTB Seller’s Guide
Whether you own a stellar-condition example of 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB or one that needs a little work, it can be useful to have a Ferrari expert look at it before potential buyers request a pre-purchase inspection. Presenting the car in its best possible condition is highly recommended and can often increase the value you can get for your classic. Be sure to honestly display any issues that may require service needs in the future. Electronics and rust for example, will likely be on any educated buyer’s list of things to check for and your honesty will be appreciated. Furthermore, you should always gather all important documents regarding the car’s history of ownership, maintenance, repair and/or restoration. These are just a few of the many tips offered by the Alex Manos team.
