Ferrari 308 GTS

The Ferrari 308 GTS was the convertible version of the 2-seater mid-engine that succeeded to the Ferrari Dino 246 GT. Although a model called the Ferrari 308 GT4 came in after the Dino 246 GT, it wasn’t considered as a true successor to the Dino, being a four-seater and designed by Bertone instead of Pininfarina. The 308 GTS on the other hand, featured a Pininfarina design that resembles the one of the first Dinos and was particularly inspired by the Dino Berlinetta Speciale that was exhibited in Paris in 1965. Three versions of the Ferrari 308 GTS were made from 1975 to 1985. The first generation was carbureted until 1980, when US regulations forced Ferrari to switch to a fuel-injection system, which reduced the output significantly. In 1982, the engineers released a third generation featuring four valves, which returned some of the power.

Ferrari 308 GTS Seller’s Guide

The 308 GTS was also significant as the first of the non-V12 to be adorned by the Ferrari logo. In 1976, Ferrari decided to stop using the Dino moniker for non-V12 engines, in order to boost sales. The brand’s clientele was, after all, not too keen on spending as much money on a model without the prestige of the prancing horse. However, both Dino and non-Dino models are highly sought-after by enthusiasts and collectors. In order to get the best value out of your Ferrari 308 GTS, the Alex Manos team has a few tips. For example, potential buyers will expect your classic to be authentic. Be sure to have a Certificate of Authenticity available for potential buyers to see, as well as chassis and engine numbers. The team also advises you to connect with their experts to evaluate the price of your classic depending on the current market availabilities.
