Buying or Selling a 1979 Lotus Eclat?
Produced from 1974 to 1982, the Lotus Eclat was made in two different series. The 1979 Lotus Eclat was a series 1, powered by the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder Lotus engine with an output of 160 hp. A four or five-speed gearbox was matted to the engine, with a three-speed automatic transmission on option. Based on the Lotus Elite, the Eclat offered more space inside thanks to a fastback rear end. The interior remained tight and fairly simple, providing only the essentials with an air conditioning and power steering on option. The car was equipped with all independent wheels, disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear. The Eclat was a light and enjoyable sports car thanks to its steel chassis and fiberglass body combination, and its great handling capabilities.
