Selling a Rolls Royce Corniche
In 1971, the Rolls Royce Corniche was introduced as—oddly enough—the realization of was a 1939 prototype that was lost to a German bomb at the outset of World War II. The new Corniche brought the name back but not much else. The design was very self-confident with the tilted grille of the Camargue and the sleek angles of the Silver Shadows. It featured what was by then the standard Rolls Royce V8 engine, independent four-wheel suspension, and a hydraulic self-levelling system that was at first all-around but later limited to the rear wheels. Later, it saw several moderate changes with the additions of an aluminum radiator, alloy and rubber bumpers, bi-level air conditioning, and rack-and-pinion steering in 1977. In 1981, the coupe version was discontinued which led to the vast majority of Corniches being convertibles and saloons. But nonetheless, as was standard with Rolls Royce, several celebrities ordered a custom Corniche such as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Paul Mccartney.
