With even more excellent handling via several refinements to the Silver Shadow’s already revolutionary self-levelling suspension and new power-assisted steering; the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II owned the streets. It was considered distinct enough from the original Silver Shadow to be deemed the Mk. II and presented as a new edition to the line. It sported the same 189 hp V8 engine as its predecessor, and the same aggressive, low-sitting unitary design. There were a few differences between European and North American versions; with the European version having a bit more curb clearance and the North American version having a special energy-absorbing bumper. Later, minor adjustments would be made to the design, such as the removal of the tiny grilles beneath the dual headlamps. Overall, it wasn’t massively different from the first Shadow, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing as you can’t fix what’s broken, and you certainly can’t fix what’s already superb.
