1965 Sunbeam Tiger

The Sunbeam Tiger was introduced at the 1964 New York Auto Show and production started in England shortly after. Carroll Shelby participated to the design of the Tiger, which featured similar lines to the AC Cobra. The Sunbeam Tiger also powered by the same four-cylinder V8 than the Cobra, with a capacity of 4.3 liters. Its power output of 164 hp enabled the Tiger to reach 60 mph from still in 9.5 seconds. The 1965 Sunbeam Tiger offered a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience in addition to its performance. The same chassis than the previous model—the Sunbeam Alpine— was used for the Tiger, and was reworked by Shelby. The Sunbeam Tiger provided great handling and road holding thanks to a stiffer suspension system, new rack and pinion steering, and disc brakes in the front and drums in the back.
