Selling A Triumph TR2
Are you thinking about selling a vintage Triumph TR2? Introduced in 1953, the TR2 was Triumph’s push to capture some of the budding sports car market in the United States. In fact, a large portion of the 8,636 TR2 models that were produced between August 1953 and September 1955 were sent to the United States. Widely recognized as the car that started it all for Triumph, the TR2 continues to be a favorite among collectors. Combining lively performance with good looks and a reasonable price, the Triumph TR2 was a strong seller in its day and led to the very successful line of TR’s that we know today.
Triumph TR2 Seller’s Tips
Telling the difference between a TR2 and TR3 model can be difficult if you don’t know what to look for. For instance, the early “small mouth” Triumph TR2 long door has a small, recessed front grille and door skins that extend down to the bottom of the rocker panel. Another way to spot an early Triumph TR2 such as the 1954 Triumph TR2 or the 1955 Triumph TR2 is to check the wiper spindle spacing. The earliest cars had their windscreen wipers only 1.5 inches apart, which caused only small amounts of the area to be wiped.
