Selling Your 1961 Porsche 356 B Roadster?
Let’s Talk About This Classic 356!
During the 1960 production year, the Porsche 356B Roadster would effectively replace the Convertible D model that was offered only in 1959. For 1961, only 812 models of the 1961 Porsche 356B Roadster would be produced before the market’s love for open-top driving would fade. Sales for soft-top versions of the Porsche 356 would decline in the early 1960s.
Today, however, these early soft-top models are some of the most desired by buyers thanks to its classic design and sporty performance. If you’re the owner of a 1961 Porsche 356B Roadster, or any open-top 356, you likely understand this appeal.

356 B Buyer’s Guide
When selling your Roadster you may find that some uneducated buyers do not understand the difference between the Roadster and the Cabriolet that was part of the line at the same time.
The best way to explain the difference is that the Roadster featured a removable windscreen, while the Cabriolet was actually a soft-top version of the Coupe, which featured a full-size windshield with body-matching color surrounding it. Manufactured until 1962, the Roadster can be either a T-5 or T-6 body type, with the T-6 being fairly rare.

“I worked with Tony on the sale of my 1978 911sc and I highly recommend company. He offered me a fair price and when I compared the work I would have to do with the “ebay tirekickers” I opted to take their fair deal and let them work with prospective buyers. I am happy and you will be too if you work with Tony.”
“I contacted Alex and he gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse. He made my selling experience painless everything Alex told me was 100% truthful which is not always the case when selling a car. I would recommend Alex to anybody selling a car. Thanks again. Jason”
“Dealing with Alex was a totally positive experience. The negotiation was two way, smooth and professional. Tough as the original owner to part with my 1975 911-S, but Alex made it worth the pain and with a seamless transaction. Best wishes Alex, and I hope to see pics of the beauty running soon!”
“It was a pleasure dealing with you Alex. You were reasonable, prompt and efficient in the business end. Allison did an excellent job on wrapping up the details. Arrangements for shipping were great–shipper was professional, communicated well on pickup time, and was just a really nice guy. Overall great experience. Sad to let the car go I had owned for 36 years, but I feel as if it is in good hands now. I hope the car works out well for you and I wish you the best in your pursuits.”
“In January I inherited a Porsche 911 in the very very early stages of restoration from my mom. I remember riding around with her in it when I was a little girl. Unfortunately this car hadn’t run in over 10 years and had just been sitting in the basement. The car had been in my family for 40 years so it had some sentimental value. When my mom passed away I really didn’t know what to do with this car because I didn’t have the knowledge or extra cash to put in what was needed for this car. I started asking friends about it and trying to figure out how I could go about selling it to someone who knew its potential. A friend who was in a Porche club was contacted by alex inquiring about early year 911’s so he called me immediately and thats was all it took. Alex was extremely easy to work with as was his sweet assistant Allison. They offered me a wonderful price I couldn’t refuse. so within a matter of a week They had sent me a cashiers check and I sent of my title and they came to pick up the car the next week. The process was so easy and safe for me. I was able to deposit the cashiers check and let it clear before I sent off the title. It was all fedex’d to me with a return envelope that I only had to drop off. I am very happy that the whole ordeal was as easy as it was. The only complaint was the specific transport they sent were a little last minute and showed up late and I actually had to push the car to help these two men. This had nothing to do with Alex though he was great. I would definitely recommend!”
“I found Alex Manos on the internet while seeking a new home for my 1970 Porsche 914/6. This car meant a great deal to me but I was not using it as often as I should and I knew the time had come to say goodbye. Alex Manos not only made the transaction one of the easiest I have ever made, and I am a CEO, but he also made me feel it was going somewhere where it will be greatly appreciated and shown in all it’s glory. I could not of asked for a smoother ride or a smoother business deal. If you are ever in need of a home for a classic, look no further than Alex Manos.”
“it was hard to see my 356B go as it had been my personal toy for about 30yrs but it was time. Alex made the entire process seamless and painless. The price was fair and quickly negotiated.Funds were wired virtually immediately and the pick up was well coordinated. It is always a pleasure to deal with a true professional.”
“Alex, It was a pleasure selling you our 1955 Porsche Speedster this past week. As you know this was Louis Speedster when he was 16 and he had it lovingly restored to its original state. Although it was hard to let go, Louis appreciated your professionalism, knowledge and appreciation of Porsche’s. Your price was quite fair and the process went very smoothly. The people we dealt with were very professional and very nice from your office staff, Steve who looked at the car for you and the amazing fellow who transported the car. You have a fine company and I hope whoever ends up with the Speedster will enjoy is as much as we have.”
“What an outstanding experience! Alex, you were quick to respond to my inquiry, demonstrated such professionalism, were easy to negotiate with, provided me with a fair price for my classic car, and paid me promptly. Your follow up, and facilitation of the logistics were first class. Thanks so much! If you are serious about selling your classic car, call Alex first!”
“First, Alex always treated me with courtesy and respect. This also applies to anyone and everyone on the Alex’s staff with whom I had association. Second, Alex was patient and allowed me to express my viewpoint. Oftentimes, individuals such as myself, can get attached to these vehicles (don’t ask me why). Consequently, our expectations may be less than realistic. Alex patiently allowed me to come to terms with the transaction and make a decision without being demeaned or feeling berated. Very important. Third, Alex did exactly what he said he would do. Transaction was completed and his willingness to eagerly fulfill his word left me feeling obligated to make sure I fulfill my obligation to the fullest. This is truly impressive and something I absolutely appreciate. Based on the reviews and testimonials I read on this site, I conclude this is a normal way of doing business for Alex and his staff. Class organization and when I decide to part with another of these classics, Alex will be at the top of my call list. Can’t wait to stop in and see the place in the near future. Well done!”
