Selling A Mercedes 280SE 3.5?
Often considered to be the epitome of the “fin-body” Mercedes-Benz W111 model series, the Mercedes 280SE 3.5 made its appearance in 1969, and is today one of the most sought-after models in the series and for the classic Mercedes brand more generally. With only 4,502 units produced – including both Cabriolet and Coupe models – the 280SE 3.5 continues to draw attention for its German engineering and exceptional design.
Interestingly, the new 4.5-liter V8 engine was considered for this model, but was dismissed because it was too expensive to be justifiable for this low-volume, time-expired design. Therefore, the Mercedes W111 280 SE 3.5 was only produced for two full seasons, and in the middle of 1971, both it and the 280 SE were withdrawn from the range.
Similar to the 280SE Cabriolets, because of the demand for the Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet models, many Coupes have been cut and converted into convertibles. Many unprepared buyers lacking knowledge have been taken advantage of in this way. If you are looking to sell Mercedes 280SE 3.5 models, be sure to verify you are indeed dealing with an original Cabriolet by checking the chassis prefix. On the Cabriolet, the prefix is 111 027, and the engine prefix is 116 980/990. Rare even in its production days, only 1,232 examples of this Cabriolet model were ever produced.
WE PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR CLASSIC CARS, LET’S TALK TODAY! – ALEX MANOS
The Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe saw more production than the Cabriolet models, with approximately 3,270 examples being produced from 1969 to 1971. Similar to the Cabriolet models, these are highly desired amongst Mercedes and German auto enthusiasts. If you are looking to sell Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe models or to sell classic Mercedes of any model, the team at Alex Manos wants to speak with you.

“We recently sold Alex a 1969 280SL. His procedure for purchasing the car was flawless. After receiving the funds via a bank wire transfer, I sent confirmation that we had indeed received the funds.. After that and only then did he send a transport vehicle to pick the car up in Florida for delivery to California. The process was as easy as you would ever imagine. I’m very glad that the 280SL is in good hands, THANK YOU ALEX!”
“Alex was very professional and the transition was very smooth. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to sell their Classic car.
“The transaction process was amazing and magic. After I sent Alex 3 photos of my 1957 190SL Mercedes-Benz, he immediately emailed me with a GOOD FOR 24 HOURS OFFER (AS IS without inspection and paid immediately). I accepted it and a certified cashier’s check was received next day via FedEx. The car was then picked up few days later. I have to say that Alex Manos and his group are real antique car professionals with my sincere appreciation.”
“My transaction was unbelievable. I began talking with Alex on Friday about selling my 1969 280SL and it was on the tractor trailer on Tuesday afternoon headed for California. The money was deposited to my account by Monday morning. Several people stopped by the tractor trailer to watch it being loaded up. My transaction was smooth, professional, and easy. I would do it again.”
