Buying or Selling a 1965 Shelby Cobra?
The Shelby Cobra—also known as AC Cobra—is a two-door roaster that was manufactured during a short six-year period (from 1962 up to 1967) in three different variants. An MkI model was first introduced with a 4.3-liter engine, and then subsequently upgraded to the MkII with a 4.7-liter unit. In 1965, a new coil-suspended chassis was introduced for the third and final MkIII model, to accommodate the now 7-liter engine (rated at 425 hp). Top speeds for the Shelby Cobra varied by model (between the standard and competition models), with the baseline iteration recording a top speed of 164 mph and the competition model (fitted with a 485-hp unit) achieving a top speed of 185 mph. With respect to the design, the bodywork was wider, the wheel-arch flares were extended, and a bigger radiator was fitted. Additional variants were also created with special specifications geared specifically towards racing.
