Selling a 1955 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I?
Nearly ten years after the end of World War II, Rolls Royce was ready to pivot to a new four-door luxury saloon named the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I. The successor to the well-received Silver Dawn, the 1955 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I would see more than 2,000 models produce —which in and of itself was a feat considering that the entire production of Silver Dawn models never reached that capacity.

The 1955 Silver Cloud I would feature a body-on-frame construction, and most of its units were manufactured with a steel body shell provided by Pressed Steel Company. This allowed for ramped up production and efficiency, yet some coachbuilder models were still released in a limited capacity.
Perhaps the most noted upgrade that would distinguish the Silver Cloud I from the Silver Dawn was the engine size. The 1955 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I would receive a robust six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4.9 liters. The transmission was a four-speed Hydramatic by General Motors. And, despite it’s heavy weight (over two tons), the Silver Cloud’s engine could propel the car to over 100 mph. The majority of the Silver Cloud models would be four-door saloons, although drop head and two-door coupe designs were also manufactured.
