Almost 60 years had passed since the combined genius of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce released their 1904 Rolls Royce 10hp —even two years before the company’s official founding— when the 1964 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III was unveiled. The second model year of this particular model, the 1964 Silver Cloud III replaced the Silver Cloud I and II. While there were some notable differences between the Silver Cloud II and III, visually they were practically the same. Like its precursor, the 1964 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III boasted a robust 6.2 liter V-8 engine under its long hood. But the Silver Cloud III was 200lbs lighter in weight and enjoyed improved performance in top speed, acceleration, and handling.

The Silver Cloud III was most often sold as a full-size, four-door saloon with body-on-frame construction. This would lend the classic to being customized by various coachbuilders throughout the years —including Park Ward and Freestone & Webb to name just a few. These variants included both drop head and fixed head coupe styles.
